Tests in Orbit: A Nationwide Challenge in the UAE to Engage University Students, and a Region, in Space Station Microgravity Research

خلاصة البحث

The “Tests in Orbit” program is a collaboration between the United Arab Emirates Space Agency (UAESA), Higher Colleges of Technology (HCT), DreamUp, and Nanoracks, which works through its Space Act Agreement with NASA. Through Tests in Orbit, three United Arab Emirates (UAE) university teams will send experiments to the International Space Station in late 2020 and early 2021, and each experiment will remain in operation for approximately 30 days. However, despite the relatively short duration of the experiments’ stay on the Space Station, Tests in Orbit is the result of years of collaboration and engagement, ensuring that a nation of Emirati learners is engaged in and inspired by native microgravity research. Tests in Orbit is a model project, building on past experience with other public/private international collaborations, and setting an example for future similar endeavors in the region as well as around the world.
